I am still busy playing Anvitha for Radha Ramana. In fact, when I started my television journey, I had no prior experience in acting, nor did I even have any remote connection. I was not even part of skits, drama or any theatre activities during my school days as well. I barely had any interests. It was only when one of my family friends accidentally shared my photos with a serial maker that I was offered the role,” says Raksha Gowda. While her childhood dream was to be a successful model, to compete for the Miss Universe title, she later shifted her interest towards acting.
“When I was offered the role, my acting skills were literally nil, and gradually I started learning the trade while I was performing. Now, I feel like a seasoned actor, and I enjoy performing, the attention I get from the audience drives me to perform better, and work harder,” she adds. A student of Jain College, studying BBA, Raksha shares that it is the college and her friends who are very supportive of her entertaining journey. She tries to attend college when she is not busy shooting, and concentrates on the examinations when required. About Putmalli, she shares that she plays a girl from the village who settles in city.
“Though it sounds like a completely rural subject, it is not so. It’s subject appeals to the family audience as the character I portray has a lot of value.
She is someone who dedicates her life for the well being of others.” When she is not shooting, Raksha says that she ensures that she spends time with her friends and family members, practices dance and painting which are her favourite hobbies since childhood. “When with friends, we plan trips to go mountain climbing, paragliding adventures with long drives for fun.
I am a total foodie, and eat junk food with no guilt. When it comes to fitness, I believe in eating well and stay disciplined when it comes to burning those calories,” she says, adding that she has been getting a lot of film offers but has chosen to work hard for a greater platform, and she will then decide about films, sensibly. “I wish I had taken up women-oriented roles in films, as my dream is to portray a woman warrior,” she concludes.
